A modest crowd of three dozen or so people gathered Thursday on the courthouse annex steps for Liberty County’s National Day of Prayer Observance, organized by the United Ministerial Alliance.

Pastor Herman Scott of Baconton Missionary Baptist Church served as minister of ceremony and welcomed words and invocations from pastor Richie Wright of First United Methodist Church; pastor Tim Byer of Amazing Life Church; pastor Richie Williams of Bethel AME. Church; Rev. Edith Anderson of Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church; Fort Stewart’s Marne Division chaplains and Bishop Julian Jones from Higher Dimensions Christian Fellowship.

The crowd also sang "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "God Bless America" during the brief ceremony.
