Follow the light to salvation
pastor corner

In the Christmas story, we find the wise men who came from the east searching for the Christ child, the savior of the world.
They didn’t have a road map or GPS, but they did have the prophecies found in the word of God and also something unique: a lone star guiding them to the place where Jesus was. On arriving, they presented the child with gifts worthy of a king and worshipped him.
Just as the wise men were searching for the savior, so many in our world are searching for something that will fill that spiritual vacuum each of us is born with.
The problem is that many don’t know where to look to find it. They need direction, a light to follow.
When Jesus was on Earth, he taught that he was that light. John spoke about this: “The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world” (John 1:9). Jesus knew that he would go back to heaven, so in his plan he always was going to have a light. He told his followers, in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world,” and then, in 5:16, he said, “let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven.”
The truth of the matter is that he still has a light to direct others to the savior. If you are a follower of Christ, you are that light. We ought to be able to say with the Apostle Paul, “Follow me as I follow Christ.”
