Heed wise words of the Master

Jesus said, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him; the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48). Knowing how much depends on obeying his word, a study of the Bible should be important to everyone.
Jesus is our savior.
He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30). “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). The son of God wants man to come to him. We are important to him, and he is the only way to reach the father.
He is also our teacher. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls” (Matthew 11:29). “For he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes” (Matthew 7:29), “For even hereunto were ye called; because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps” (1 Peter 2:21). The teachings of Christ were ? and are ? like none the world has ever known. His great example of love and concern is hard to fathom. It shows how man should relate both to God and our fellow man. He willingly gave himself so that man would have the opportunity of salvation.
Jesus is our shepherd. “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine” (John 10:14). “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd” (Matthew 9:36). As a shepherd cares for his sheep, so Jesus cares for man. Those who follow Christ know that he provides spiritual leadership through his word ? leadership that tells how to become a part of and remain in God’s family. He does not leave man to wander; he has given man his word to show them the way.
Jesus is our friend. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock; if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).
He is a friend who was willing to lay down his life. Just before he was taken away to stand trial, he prayed for those who would obey his word and follow him. “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one, I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me”(John 17:20-23).
Finally, man needs to realize that Jesus will be our judge. “Then shall the king say unto them on his right hand, ‘Come, ye blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world’” (Matthew 25:34).  “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels’” (Matthew 25:41).
Listen to the words of Jesus now while you have the opportunity to do something about your eternal destiny. Why not take the time to read, study and obey the words God has given to man? Remember, Jesus is “… author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him” (Hebrews 5:9).
