Attention all males ages of 10 and older: You are being summoned to an empowerment workshop.
Men, grab you sons, grandsons, brothers, nephews, male co-workers, church members, friends and neighbors, and let them join you for this time of fellowship and empowerment.
The city of Hinesville is the site of this workshop to encourage, educate and empower our young males.
According to Hinesville community development department employee Daisy Jones, who is coordinating the program, the department, in collaboration with several local organizations, will hold an empowerment workshop starting at 10 a.m. Aug. 24, at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center, 2140 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Flemington.
“We are doing this to launch an ongoing collaborative, an extension of our service arm, to improve the lives of males in our community,” Assistant City Manager Kenneth Howard said.
“‘Tied to Success’ is the theme because it relates our goals, and we have deliberately designed the workshop to deliver engaging and actionable lessons for life, education and career success,” he added.
The workshop will feature a keynote speaker, discussions on civility, proper behavior, personal accountability, integrity, manhood, verbal and nonverbal messaging, respect for women, and professional dress.
Some of the workshop topics will include:
My Image: I — Integrity, M — Manhood, A — Authority, G — Generosity and E — Excellence. This session challenges the participant to assess his overall image and determine what his outward appearance reflects, as well as the message it sends.
My Swag: This session addresses inward character, walk, speech, handshake, eye contact, posture and respect for women.
My Future: This session provides interactive conversations with a diverse panel of engaging presenters and allows for more feedback, individual questions and responses.
Young Lions, Old Lions: This session will motivate and encourage males of all ages, as well as inspire fathers, grandfathers, brothers and friends. It culminates with step-by-step instructions on how to tie a necktie.
My Empowerment Pledge: This will culminate the day’s sessions with a commitment and call to action.
“The event will also include lunch, entertainment and a diverse panel discussion,” Howard said. “‘Tied to Success’ will demonstrate what a community can do to share important life lessons from one generation to the next.”
The event is free, but registration is required by Aug. 14.
