Standing on shaky ground

There is sufficient evidence to support the fact that the United States of America was established on a biblical foundation.

The advancement of Christianity was a driving factor in settling this country. In his inaugural address, our first president publicly stated that this nation was established by the sovereign hand of God.

“No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand, which conducts the affairs of men, more than those of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency; … The propitious smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which heaven itself has ordained.” (George Washington, 1789) — Op. Cit., Avalon Project at Yale Law School, “First Inaugural Address of George Washington.”

Our nation has enjoyed years of favor, protection and prosperity because of its commitment to remain true to the foundation on which it was established. We have not been a perfect nation. But under the guidance and influence of our Judeo-Christian foundation, we have built a “more perfect union.” Under the watchful eyes and sovereign hand of God, we rose to become one of the mightiest nations in the history of mankind. We must remember that our success is directly connected to the foundation under which we were established.

Today, the foundation of the biblical truths that established this nation is being removed. As a nation, we are turning our backs on God and the principles that guided us to our place of prominence in the world. The impact of removing our biblical foundations cannot be ignored or taken slightly. Rabbi Jonathan Cahn in his book “The Harbinger” paraphrased the President Washington’s inaugural address to read:

“If America upholds God’s eternal standards and follows his unchanging ways, then it will be blessed with his favor … his protection … his prosperity … But if America should depart from the ways of God, if it should disregard his eternal standards, then the smiles of heaven, the blessings of God, will be withdrawn — its prosperity, its protection and its powers would be taken away.”

It is the opinion of this writer that we are standing on shaky ground. Cahn makes a great point during these times of eroding biblical foundations. We have enjoyed the blessings that come from standing on a foundation of the biblical truths. How can we expect to continue to receive those blessings if we destroy the foundations?

King David asked, “If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3). The answer is that the righteous should take a stance for truth and lift their voice and cry out. It is imperative that those who know the truth continue to stand firm and cry out.

This is my cry out to you!
