First Sgt. (ret.) Daniel Rico has received an American flag that flew over the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C., in his honor in July.

Rico’s son and grandson, Mike and Michael Rico, visited Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga. 1st, and asked to have the flag flown in appreciation of Sgt. Rico’s military service. Rico said he was overcome with emotion when he learned  what his son and grandson had done for him. They also visited the Vietnam Memorial in the first sergeant’s honor.

Rico and his wife Belen will celebrate their 45th anniversary in November.
