Free music event set for Darien

Members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will join the Geechee Gullah Ring Shouters to perform “Songs of the Georgia Sea Islands” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, in the Archie B. Myers Sr. Fine Arts Center in Darien.

The free event of African-American spirituals and slave songs is part of the Smithsonian Institution’s exhibition “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music.” For more, go to georgiahumanities.org.
