Rachel Hatcher from Liberty Transit met with Goldenheirs club members at their November meeting. Hatcher talked about planning, funding and the new public transit system’s future plans. The buses are on a fixed route to the areas of Hinesville, Flemington and Fort Stewart. The vehicles are wheelchair-accessible.
Regular bus fare is $1 or 50 cents for seniors. Seniors with a Medicare card who are 65 or older must show ID. A monthly pass is $30 or $15 for seniors with a Medicare card.
The Goldenheirs also celebrated with a Christmas luncheon on Dec. 7. Lynn Cannon Catering provided the food, and Carey Knowles, a Christian entertainer, presented the program.
