The second annual “Larger Than Life” pageant was held May 23 at Long County High School. The contestants were presented to a panel of judges who scored them on appearance, poise and confidence.
Friends and family in attendance were asked to vote for their favorite contestant.
Janet Elder of Ludowici was crowned queen. Becky Rouse of Ludowici was the first runner-up, and the second runner-up was Jennifer Marks of Reidsville. The most-sponsored contestant also was Elder, and the people’s choice award went to Rouse.
The “Larger Than Life” pageant is an annual event produced and directed by Affairs & Occasions of Ludowici. The event raises money for the American Cancer Society.
Organizers have designed the pageant to demonstrate that beauty is not a size, but a way of presenting oneself.
This year’s judges were Josh Caines, Wallace Shaw, Julie Skipper and Deven Mixon. Entertainment for the evening was provided by Julie Skipper and Eric Rentz. Organizers said they were grateful to everyone who participated, their sponsors, the judges and those who attended.
