Have you ever had those days where you just don't want to do anything? For example, today I could not get out of bed. I just wasnt feeling today. As I was dragging myself around the house, I asked myself if science could help me solve this problem. When I got to work I immediately started looking this up, because I know I cant be the only one who has those days.

My research taught me about a hormone in our body that is the bodys chemical for trusting others and feeling happy.

Its called oxytocin!

No, this is not a drug that you can go out and buy. According to Psychology Today, oxytocin is usually known as the love hormone. Positive experiences release oxytocin in our bodies to help make us happier.

Here are ten ways to get more oxytocin pumping through your veins:

1. Kissing Kissing releases the same hormones as exercising. Give your sweetheart a kiss to help you both relax and boost your mood.

2. Petting animals Take time to play with your furry friends. Interacting with animals releases oxytocin as you build trust with them. Also, look at this dog dont you feel a little better already?

3. Laughing Laughter really is the best medicine. So go ahead, watch your favorite YouTube video or read the comics.

4. Listening to someone Oxytocin is also known as the trusting hormone. When you interact with others and build trust, more of these hormones are released into your bloodstream.

5. Giving back Giving back builds trust in others. Taking care of someone helps you realize how needed you truly are. They love you for helping them, which in turn builds trust.

6. Exercising Exercise helps your blood circulate and releases endorphins through your body, which is another hormone responsible for your happiness. For a burst of energy and a happy heart (both physically and emotionally), take a short walk around your neighborhood.

7. Trying something new As the saying goes, If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten. Sometimes we get stuck and need to try something new to make a difference. Whether its a new skill or a new meal, try it!

8. Using social media Even though people dont believe it, when you are on social media, you are interacting with people. You are being involved in other peoples lives and building trust with others, and therefore, releasing oxytocin into your body. But remember, it is important to interact with these people in person as well as online.

9. Taking a hot shower Relax your muscles and get clean. Both of these help blood flow, again moving around oxytocin already in your body.

10. Eat your favorite meal Doing things you already know you love helps increase oxytocin levels. Sometimes you only have to go as far as the kitchen to find the things you love.

Try a few of these ways to boost your energy and happiness. By making a few simple changes, you can start your day out right and keep a smile on your face all day long.
