Changes are on the way to the health department’s “Babies Can't Wait” program but local, district, and state leaders want the public’s thoughts on the matter before moving forward.
The program is Georgia’s statewide early intervention system for infants and toddlers with special needs — birth to 3 years — and their families. The program helps all eligible children, regardless of their disability, get access to services to enhance their development.
The Department of Human Resources Division of Public Health recently evaluated the program. Several changes have been proposed to increase program performance and sustainability.
The public is encouraged to participate in a public comment period that ends Aug. 20. A copy of the proposed revisions can be viewed online at, www.gachd.org.
