Jesup hospital keeping busy

 Georgia-based Davis Creations is hosting a fundraiser for the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 15-16 in the hospital lobby. All goods, including costume jewelry and scarves, will cost just $6.
The fundraiser will benefit the hospital auxiliary, which supports patients, their families and the hospital staff. The auxiliary also makes an annual donation to the hospital for the purchase of equipment.

Employee after 20 years  at Wayne Memorial Hospital
Anita Joyner recently retired after working 20 years in Wayne Memorial Hospital’s business office. At a reception in her honor, Joyner said she was looking forward to getting some rest, reading more and sewing during her free time. Hospital Chief Executive Officer Joe Ierardi presented a certificate of recognition to her.

Café’s steak day is Jan. 30
A special lunch service will be offered Thursday, Jan. 30 for diners at The Café at Wayne Memorial. A 10-ounce, hand-cut rib eye steak meal will be offered for $10. Included with the steak, which is seasoned with a burgundy dry rub, are a baked potato, side dish, roll, drink and dessert. Steak Day at The Café will be during the lunch service, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The award-winning café offers an outside entrance so patrons can bypass walking through the hospital. The café, which serves three meals a day to the public and to patients, is open 365 days a year. The menu line, 912-530-3100, is updated with a recorded description of the day’s lunch and dinner options by 9 a.m. each day.

Farmers’ market is Jan. 16   
The community farmers’ market will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 16 in the parking lot closest to Highway 84 and First Street at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Participating vendors include Going Green Nursery, Boatright Farms and The Uncanny Cannery. Fresh fruit, vegetables, local honey, plants, jams, jellies and preserves will be available. The market, which is open to the public, is held to encourage healthy lifestyles and give residents convenient access to locally grown food.
