The Health Squad, comprised of associates in the Liberty College & Career Academy Healthcare Science Program, recently made presentations to elementary-school students.

The squad’s vision is to promote optimal and healthy lifestyles for school-age children. The presentations are designed to limit the anxiety when encountering health-care professionals. Tenth through 12th-grade health-care science students visited Jordye Bacon Elementary School and Waldo Pafford Elementary School and used puppetry during their presentations.

The project allows high-school students to learn by giving service to others. Elementary-school students are targeted to lay a foundation for health principles that promote wellness. Students act, sing, dance, use puppets and write skits that promote healthy living.

The squad is under the direction of LCCA instructor and registered nurse Pamela Scott.
