The Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia announces the addition of Dr. Christopher E. Swanson to its staff. Swanson is an orthopedic surgeon and will start seeing patients Monday.
Swanson specializes in the treatment of sports-related and traumatic injuries of the musculoskeletal system. He brings to the institute his sports-medicine background, which includes his recent position as assistant to the head physician of the Cincinnati Bengals.
“We are thrilled about Dr. Swanson joining the BJI team,” said Dr. J. Lex Kenerly, who opened The Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia in 2010. “With his training and experience, I am certain he will be an excellent addition to our practice. All of us at BJI are pleased to welcome Chris and his family, who are relocating to Jesup, and know that they’ll enjoy and thrive in our community.”
Swanson earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Dartmouth College in 2001 and spent the following year in the University of Pennsylvania’s post-baccalaureate special-science program. Upon graduating from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2007 with his medical degree, he entered his orthopedic-surgery residency at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.
“I’m excited to be a part of BJI and all they do to support the communities they live in and serve,” Swanson said. “I have a passion for the treatment of sports-related injuries and am looking forward to using my expertise to treat athletes and all patients in need of musculoskeletal medical care.”
