Two Christmas-themed events will be held in the next two weeks in Ludowici.
The Long County Christmas-tree lighting ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Ludowici Well and Pavilion. The free event will feature refreshments and caroling, with a special visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
On Saturday, Dec. 13, the Ludowici/Long County Christmas parade will start at 2 p.m. at Walker Middle School. This year’s theme is “Christmas in the South.” Anyone can enter the parade by filling out a form available at the Town and Country Beauty Shop, 37 S. McDonald St.; the tax assessor’s office, 49 McDonald St.; or the Ludowici office of attorney John Pirkle, 386 E. Cypress St. Completed entry forms can be faxed to 545-2025. Cost to enter a float in the competition is $25. Ribbons and cash prizes will be given to the top three parade entries. All entries must be lined up at WMS by 1 p.m. Competitive entries will be judged at 1:15 p.m.
The tree-lighting and parade are sponsored by the Long County Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call Beverly Johnson at 545-9111 or Teresa Odum at 545-0015.
