People from all over the area celebrated Easter on Saturday at Ludowici Church of God.
Johni-Lynn Holton, who is the wife of church pastor David Holton, said the day was a way to bring the community together.
“We want to make ourselves available to the community, so we put this together for everyone to come out and enjoy. There is a lot of things for kids to do, and it is a big family outreach,” she said. “Many of the people who are here do not attend church, but they will come to something like this.”
The highlight of the day was an Easter-egg hunt, and other activities included face-painting, bingo, a train ride, a moon walk, a cake walk and clowns. Free hamburgers and hot dogs also were provided for guests.
Church member Gene Middleton, who was all wet from being soaked in the dunking tank, said the church has grown over the years and that it was good to see so many different people in attendance.
“There is a tremendous turnout here today, and that is good for our church and the community. Bringing people together for a day like today is good because we will look up one Sunday morning and then we’ll see them sitting in our church,” Middleton said.
Ludowici City Council member Gwen Davis attended the event and praised the church for putting everything together.
“It is so nice that the congregation had the heart to open the doors of their church for all of us today. It has been nicely attended and I’ve had a wonderful time,” she said.
