Long County festival celebrates area

The Long County Wildlife Festival last Saturday marked the event’s 27th year, and organizers made sure to add plenty of new activities.
Entertainment included a turkey shoot, a moonwalk, a kids’ train ride, live music, pony rides and a pig chase. Attendees enjoyed a smorgasbord of goodies, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue, chicken and sausage.
The festival was created in 1982 to help local churches and other nonprofit organizations raise money while promoting fellowship in the community.
The lead up to the festival was the 2008 Long County Wildlife Pageant at the Long County High School, and it got everyone in the community ready.
The Baby Miss Queen was Abigail Pitts, with the Runner-Up being Kenna Futch.
The Tiny Miss Queen was Vivianaiy Cimarrusti and the Miss Queen was Ashley Shaw.
The Petite Miss Queen was Ashlyn Hughes while the Runner-Up was Ashlynn Howard.
The Toddler Miss Queen was Brooklynn Howard and the Junior Miss Queen was Robin Glandon.  Glandon also won an $80.00 Stetson Hat which had been donated by the County Line Barn.
Winning the Pre-Teen Miss Crown and the People’s Choice Award was Marleigh Heath.
The Over-ALL Queen Winner was Samantha Holt.
Kelli Mock said the day was at success, and she thanked all who contributed to the pageant.
