Long hosts Tri-County Easter Beauty Pageant

LUDOWICI -- KIDZ-ETC. had the 2008 Miss Tri-County Beauty Pageant this March 8 at the Long County High School.
About 250 people filled the cafeteria to watch young ladies of all ages compete for tiaras and titles.
This year's pageant had 29 competitors ranging from babies in the baby miss division to adults in the miss division.
The overall winner was Xena Lewallen, who also won the pre-teen miss best dress award, the pre-teen prettiest smile award, and was the first runner-up to the miss pre-teen title.
Winning the people's choice queen title, the best dress award and prettiest smile award in the baby miss division, and bringing home the baby miss crown was Caroline Boyles.
Winning the most sponsored queen title was Lexi Rowland who competed in the tiny miss division.
In the ms./mrs. division, the first runner-up was Kylie Gaitten, who also won the best dress award, while the winner of the crown was Elizabeth Hall, who also won the prettiest smile award.
In the miss division, the first runner-up was Ashley Duffany who also won the prettiest smile award, while the winner of that title was Brittany Chapman who also won the best dress award.
In the junior miss division, the third runner-up was Ashley Murphy, second runner-up was Robin Glandon, and first runner-up was Samantha Holt. Catherine Scaggs won the best dress and prettiest smile awards and brought home the junior miss crown.
In the pre-teen division Margaret Alexander was the third runner-up, Selena Bruggeman was the second runner-up, and the winner for the title was Amanda Kent.
In the petite miss division, Ashlyn Hughes won the prettiest smile award and was the second runner-up, and Tierney Compher won the best dress award, and was the first runner up to the Crown. The winner of the petite miss title was Alexis Occhiuzzi.
The tiny miss division had the most entrants having eight, with the second runner-up going to Ansley Harter. The winner of the prettiest smile award went to McKinleigh Allen, who also was the first runner-up to the crown. Bria Huffman won the best dress award and the title of tiny miss.
In the toddler miss division Abbie Watford won both the prettiest smile and the best dress awards and the crown.
In the baby miss division, the second runner-up was Addison Hayes and the first runner-up was Tristin Yawn.
Also competing in the baby miss division was Paislee Edmondson and Rebekah Suggs. Vivianniy Deliah, Ashlynn Howard, Aubree Strickland, and Caroline Cranford competed in the tiny miss division.
The emcee for the night was the 2007-08 Miss Ludowici Jaime Walker. The judges were Pam Powell of Odum and Debbie Smith of Jesup.
According to both Smith and Powell, poise was one of the major attributes they both looked for in contestants.
"I like to see poise and a natural smile. With the younger girls I like to see personality, and to see them shine," Smith said.
Powell added, "I look for good eye contact, and to see if the dress fits them well and looks good on the contestant."
