Scout leader receives church award

Bob Colbert of Hinesville recently received a St. George Episcopal Church Award for his service to youth through the Boy Scouts of America.
The award is presented to adults for outstanding service to the spiritual development of youth in national youth servicing agency programs. 
Colbert has been serving youth through the Boy Scouts of America, Coastal Empire Council since the 1980s when he volunteered to be a den leader for Pack 500. Colbert has been the shooting sports director of the council’s Boy Scout camp for more than 15 years.
In addition to giving his time throughout the summer months to instruct the Scouts, he also has volunteered at Cub Scout day camps, Cub Scout parent and pal camping weekends, Webelos weekends, Cub Scout fun weekends, Boy Scout freeze-outs, venturing weekends and other activities. 
The national church award is made available by the youth ministries office of the Episcopal Church Center. The award is named for St. George, patron saint of knighthood and of England.
