Hinesville Mayor James Thomas signed a proclamation Jan. 15 that designated January 2013 as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Month in the city.
Since being chartered in 1987, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority's Hinesville Alumnae Chapter has been involved in numerous community activities, such as being a sponsor of the Relay for Life of Liberty County and the Feed-A-Child program, donating Thanksgiving baskets to the needy, contributing to the local women’s shelter, annually awarding $5,000 in scholarships annually to high-school students and co-sponsoring political forums.
