Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

 

If our elected officials can govern themselves so well then why are we even having this conversation?

Where is the city going to get the money for these pay raises? Our taxes went up considerably last year. Are they going to double now?
I just wanted to applaud Reps. Al Williams and Terry Barnard for standing up for what is right concerning the pay raises for city officials. It’s not personal. It’s business.

Would the school reporter please report whether it is true the school board has voted for several people at the central office to have three-year contracts?

I want to thank our state legislators for stepping in. Our city council and mayor can’t show restraint or common sense. So something needs to be done and now it will finally be done.
