Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Parents who stand at the bus stop: If you smoke, please wait until the children are gone before you start smoking. Secondhand smoke is as dangerous to the kids as any virus or anything.

I find it hard to believe that some workers at some of these businesses get $10,000 bonuses, while the customers get very little interest and peanuts, two pounds of peanuts instead of other privileges. It’s nice to get peanuts, but they are not used to getting peanuts.

There are still a lot of good, single men and women. Who wants a wife who wears less clothes shopping than she does at the beach?

I’d like to thank Coastal Electric for getting the power back on so quickly and saving my Thanksgiving turkey.

Some children are so starved for their mother’s attention. It is so sad.

I’d like to thank the driver of the little green Nissan that drives up and down Varnedoe Street for killing an elderly lady’s cat. You should be proud of yourself.

Varnedoe Street is not I-95. They need to slow the traffic down. I’ve already lost two animals on this road.

Be careful for what you ask for, especially if you’re a wicked person. What you get may be the end of you.
