Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

 

In response to the call about the Martin Luther King holiday: President’s Day is an observed federal holiday, this year on Feb. 15.

Our neighborhood is being ruined by junk cars and multiple occupants of houses. One in our neighborhood has a sign up, for rent, renting out rooms. Who can we get to enforce ordinances about this?

The government is discriminating against retirees. The eyeglass clinic at Winn won’t let us have gold frames, only active duty. The quartermaster clothing sales will only sell us certain items. Us retirees can’t get what only active duty can get. I served my country.

When is the BoE going to have an open house a the former Brewton-Parker College so the public can see what we bought?

The world was created over 30 million years ago, yet blacks still don’t have equality. May God have mercy on all of us.
