To the person in the recent Sound Off that had mentioned the fire department vehicle, I would just like to say for a fact that the fire chief did not receive a new vehicle. That vehicle was purchased for emergency responding, and had you ever needed emergency services at your residence for any of you or your family members, you would be happy that they have a vehicle to respond in. This is coming from an emergency responder myself.

My brother is dying of brain cancer. He’s a Vietnam vet. It took forever to get him into hospice. How can I get agencies from the veterans’ organizations to assist me in keeping him in the hospice? Because he’s dying and he doesn’t need to be in a nursing home setting.

I don’t understand how the board of education can justify taking four days of instruction away from the students and then giving all employees a bonus equal to three days of pay. And this has happened for the second year in a row? Where is the logic and cost-saving in this plan? Are the superintendent and CFO receiving the bonus? I guess the students are supposed to take their iPads home on reduced calendar days and teach themselves how to play games.

Just another heads-up for our county and city leaders: I believe there’s at least three more gas stations that have been located on Memorial Drive. Maybe check into it, and free JimmyMack.

Why did it take you so long to cut off the cyber-bully named JimmyMack? He’s been bullying people in the cyber world, on the blogosphere, for a long time. I don’t know why it took so long. Standing up to a bully is a good thing.

Recently, while shopping in the food department of Walmart, I found myself needing assistance finding an item. I saw a young man wearing the Walmart vest. I stopped him, and before I could say a thing to him, he said to me, “I’m not on the clock yet,” and just walked away. I suggest, young man, next time don’t put the Walmart vest on until you are on the clock. Are you kidding me?

I’m appalled at the latest Best of Liberty County, the picture of the pastor with all the tattoos, him being a pastor, he should know Leviticus 19:28 where the Lord is saying not to print any marks upon you. And it’s not only him, all through Facebook, all you see are church people, leaders, with tattoos all over them. Have they not read their Bible lately?
