Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

I agree with the person that said we got sheriff candidates that are not stating why they want to be sheriff. But we got some people running that aren’t even from around here and we don’t know who they are.

Listen up, Liberty County, running for sheriff is a very serious proposition. Think twice before you run for high sheriff. We need someone who is educated and knowledgeable about the law.

Would someone please list the qualifications to run for sheriff of Liberty County?

To the construction workers on Barrington Ferry Road, when you dig the ditches you need to make sure it’s covered up when they finish the job. We’re losing a lot of good tires on this road.

I’d like all U.S. citizens to Google the new postage stamp that has been ordered by President-elect Obama on the Muslim Ramadan.
This is to all the politicians that are promising they are going to focus on jobs when they get in office. Why should we buy a pig in a poke? Why not focus on jobs now and show us what you are going to be do.

To the parents of teenage girls, if you’d teach them how to dress and not let them run the roads as they please, you wouldn’t have to worry about teenage pregnancy and statutory rape. If you can’t raise them right maybe you shouldn’t have had them.

Congratulations to the people at Enterprise Rentals. You’re very professional. Thanks for your service.

Since I moved to Hinesville 10 years ago, now I’m going to move out because Hinesville is no longer a city of trees, it is a city of junk cars and uncut grass. The city doesn’t enforce anything.

I wonder why the city won’t enforce its ordinances. Have you noticed all the elected officials that are no longer are in office, they all move. Even city employees that retire go on to other towns.

In Sunday’s issue, on where to put your boat and Sunbury; there’s another place on Colonels Island called Half Moon Marina.

Went outside to get my paper this morning and it was all wet. I thought you were supposed to put your paper in plastic when it was raining?
