Sound Off for June 27

I was reading the paper about the ribbon cutting for the new veterans hospital, and I am very happy that is happening for the veterans who need it. However, I pulled by the people who were cutting the ribbon because we have a lot of veterans out there who have made this possible. They should be the ones standing there cutting that ribbon. Those people cutting the ribbon haven’t done anything as far as helping out veterans.
After reading the front-page news, I always look for Sound offs. I know people are calling in Sound offs, so why isn’t it in the paper? If you’re not going to put sound offs in, I’m just going to quit getting the paper. (Editor’s note: Sound off calls run in every edition of the Courier on the entertainment page.)

I agree with the caller about Winn Army Hospital. They come into work, then they’ll go get coffee and work out, then they finally take a lunch break. Some of them even dress like hoochie mamas. I think they’re abusing the government’s money. This should be checked into.

I remember coming here in 1951, and civilians were not allowed to come through the gate unless they were escorted by a military member. It’s a military base, not a civilian playground. There were only a certain amount of civilians allowed during hunting season. Those were the good days.
