Sound off for June 6

These opinions are not the Courier’s. Callers are not required to identify themselves, so we can neither verify sources nor their motives. Call 876-3733.

I don’t understand why our BoE members are letting the superintendent hire so many people at the top level, and the administrators, school staff and students still get furlough days. I just don’t understand. Maybe we need to vote out the BoE members that are allowing the superintendent to do this.

We just received the calendar for next year’s school year, and we have four furlough days, while the people at the board office get raises and more positions available. Six figures is a lot of money for the board office to be making, yet the teachers and students have to still deal with furlough days.

Mr. Murray, please give us some recipes for the summer vegetables coming in now. We would like some recipes for squash and onions. We would enjoy seeing those in your articles. Thank you, Mr. Murray, for your articles.

When did the school start charging $100 because kids failed the course and they have to retake it? I thought school was free. I thought school was supposed to help the kids succeed. What’s going to happen when the parents don’t have $100? Why don’t the teachers ever call and let you know your kid is failing?

I’m calling in response to the Sound off about the lawyer who called the black male “ignant.” I had to look that up because I have never heard of the word before. The definition says it’s slang for ignorant. I guess that’s why a lot of kids talk this way because we are using slang words. That’s stupid. We all need to start speaking proper English, and we all need to watch who we put in office.

I’m a 20-year veteran. Walter Reid hospital has been falling apart for years. Veterans have always been treated badly in health care, way before Obama-care was even thought of.

In reference to the article about the area behind Lowe’s, it is very sad that all those beautiful trees were cut down and all of the habitats destroyed, and for what? That is really sad. Hinesville should be ashamed of itself.
