Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously,so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers;

The politicians up in Hinesville and Liberty County must need another vacation to Jekyll Island or China. That’s why they’re going up on our property taxes.

Bravo to the city of Hinesville for wanting to raise our city taxes when we’re still coming out of a recession. Perhaps the tax increase is to pay for the raises these folks approved for themselves.

I can’t believe the city of Hinesville will actually raise our property taxes when they just went to China on the taxpayer’s back and have their fancy retreat at five-star hotels. There’s going to be a mass exodus out of the city.

It was very odd one of your callers would compare football to Sherman’s March to the Sea. The Civil War was fought to preserve the union. After these silly elections, lets do just that, keep the union together.

How dare the city raise our taxes when they use our money to go to China and go out of town for meetings. This is wrong.
