Editor’s note: We’re running more Sound off calls than normal in this issue to catch up on some we’ve had backlogged from recent weeks:

“After all these abusive and invasive TSA scanning of body parts, the American people should refuse to fly and just take the bus.”

“I hope the city of Midway is going to be able to fine the asphalt people who made that mess on Highway 84 where they are building that new apartment complex.”

“With the ground breaking of the new Midway city hall, I’m going to watch whether the city will go bankrupt or if taxes will be raised.”

“I agree with the caller about the post office and DMV. They are the rudest people.”

“It seems like the sheriff is getting a raise, $20,000, but the money is coming out of money budgeted to the sheriff’s office for training and deputies and all that stuff. That’s going to be cut so he can get more. That don’t seem right.”

“To show you how dysfunctional our city council has become, they’ve appointed a member of the library board who doesn’t even live in the city. How can you appoint a non-resident to represent the city on a board?”

“This is the last straw. The Russians and President Trump are teaming up because of the hurricane that hit Texas. Now we all know former President Obama would have walked on water out to stop that hurricane before it hurt anyone.”

“People living near Stone Mountain better move out because the liberals are going to blow it up. I guess the last statue to get rid of will be the Statue of Liberty.”

“I have just to come to the conclusion that codes and rules in Long County are only suggestions and it depends who you are if they apply to you! The good old boy club is alive and well here!”

“Jesus said it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles. Maybe politicians should consider this before making statements.”

“The flag code states ‘No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform.’ It also states ‘The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever.’ However, I do not see the president or anyone else trying to push that issue. This is less of a ‘respect’ issue and more of ‘silence minorities’ issue.”

“This is the third Sunday in a row that I have tried taking my church group out to Chick-fil-A and it is closed. That is bad for business."

“Hats off to the Bradwell Tigers football team on such a great start this season. These young men are putting in hard work and doing a great job. However one individual is not the team. The coaches need to give equal opportunities to all players.”

“I just wanted to commend the BI coaching staff for teaching their players character. In this day and age, when professional players kneel during the national anthem, our high school players proudly run onto the field with an American flag and an Army flag. Thank you, coaching staff. Go Tigers!”

“The same council members are at it again. They set aside a closed bid because their choice was not the low bidder and they want to reopen the bidding process. Maybe a call to the GBI is in order, or maybe an ethics committee needs to look closer at these actions?”

“Thank you to the men and women of the Hinesville Police Department and the sheriff’s department for a job well done during the recent storm. I appreciate all you do, keep up the good work.”

“I witnessed a female on the city council talk down to a department head like she was a child. This is not the first time and it is very unprofessional. Can we get a little teamwork from the council so everyone can get along and work together?”
