Families invited on scavenger hunts

Fort King George State Historic Site in Darien will have family scavenger hunts starting this Saturday and continuing each Saturday through September. Employees at the fort will draw names and give away gift certificates to three families each weekend.

Here’s how it works:

Families with children who successfully complete the site’s family scavenger hunt will have their names entered into the drawing to win one of three weekly prizes.
First place wins a $20 gift certificate, redeemable at the fort’s gift shop. Second place wins a $10 gift certificate. The third-place prize is a $5 gift certificate. There will be a drawing for the first-, second- and third-place prizes each Saturday at the fort at 3 p.m. through Sept. 25. However, families can come to the site and complete the scavenger hunt any day during normal operating hours. The site is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.
The rules are the same each weekend, and the contest is open to any family with children who visits the site. Admission is $5 for adults, $4.50 for senior citizens and $3.50 for children ages 6-18.
