Fort McAllister plans Civil War history day

Fort McAllister in Richmond Hill will have a Civil War living history day in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16.
Civil War soldiers from the 47th Georgia Infantry  will demonstrate how to load and fire muskets and cannon every hour. There will also be blacksmithing and cooking demonstrations.
Attendees can bring picnic lunches and spend the whole day enjoying the historical programs, walking the nature trails, fishing or boating.
There will be a small admission fee. Pets on leashes are welcome.
The park is in Richmond Hill at the end of Georgia Spur 144. For information, call 727-2339.
