Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity. Nor do we know what motivated the callers:

I totally agree with the military as new jobs. They should bring back the draft. There are so many people out of work and this should be an option.

We haven’t seen any more terrorists. Someone must have made some decisions right somewhere along the line.

We’ve got to get out and vote one more time. We’ve got to stop Saxby Chambliss, he's determined to wreck Obama’s rescue plan for the middle class.

I don’t think it’s fair for a grocery store to have a $2 difference on meat prices just to go to a new store. What about your old customers? The price should be the same.

I’d like to suggest for people that get puppies, whether they buy them or get them free, to have them get their puppy shots, put on heartworm prevention and spayed or neutered. It’s for their sake.

Everyone should write to Gov. Purdue because tax assessors all across Georgia have lost touch with reality. It is a statewide problem. Bombard our governor and make him hear us.

The roundtrip airfare for our elected officials to travel to China is the same amount they expect one of our seven fire stations to operate on for a full year. And they profess concern for our safety?

Truth and purity of heart will prevail in times of testing and financial judgment. The gold and silver belong to God. He gives and He takes away.

That caller who said we just elected a man based solely on the color of his skin must have been a Republican.

Thank God for lower gas prices. Lets never forget who is in control.

Everyone please stop calling the election of Obama a race issue. Forty-three percent of white America, that’s almost half, voted for Obama. It was a change issue, not a race issue.

To the Sound off moron who said Barack Obama was elected solely based on the color of his skin and not the content of his character: Sixty-one percent of Obama’s voters were white.

I’d like to know when the mayor is going to follow through on the promises he made to the foster parent association here in Liberty County?

To the caller calling about the votes for the color of his skin: You must remember all 43 before him were elected for the color of their skin.
