Sign-ups Under Way for Hunter/Stewart Independence Day Scrambles
Registration is under way for golfers at Taylors Creek Golf Course and Hunter Golf Club who want to make playing in a four-person scramble part of their "Worth Fighting For" Independence Day Weekend celebration.
The holiday scramble at Taylors Creek will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on July 1. The cost will be $30 per person. The first 25 four-person teams will be accepted.
Trophies will be awarded for the first, second and third-place teams, and individual golfers will have an opportunity to compete in closest to the pin and longest drive contests.
Hunter Golf Club's scramble will be played on July 2 and will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Twenty-five four-person teams will be accepted and the cost is $30 per person. As in the Stewart scramble, trophies will be awarded for the first, second and third-place teams, and individual golfers can compete in closest to the pin and longest drive contests.

Pass & Permit Wildlife Photo Contest
Registration is under way for the Wildlife Photo Contest to be held Nov. 16 at the Fort Stewart Pass & Permit Office, building 8093. Registration will close Nov. 3.
The theme is wildlife photography. Please, no photos of pets. Photo dimensions are four by six inches or larger and there is no limit to the quantities entered.
The contest is open to amateur photographers and entry fees are $5 (ages 2-15) per photo and $10 (ages 16 and older) per photo.

Davis Avenue CDC Grand Opening
A ceremony celebrating the opening of the Davis Avenue Child Development Center will be held at 9:30 a.m. June 30. The full-service facility, in building 5500 on Fort Stewart, will serve 144 children up to the age of five.
Soldiers, Family Members and members of the local community are invited to take part in the grand opening.
The Davis Avenue center replaces one serving out of building 442. It contains 13,153 square feet of space and was built at a cost of about $4.3 million.
Hours of Operation will be 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, closed weekends. Registration and enrollment information is available by calling Parent Central Services, located in building CT029 next to the George P. Hays Library, at 912-767-2312.

Teen Skate Jam at Corkan Recreation
Teens 13-18 years old are invited to a Skate Jam at Corkan Family Fun Center, building 449, from 8 to 10 p.m. on June 30. Bring your favorite music and we will play it on the sound system while you skate under the cool lights. The $5 per person cost includes skate rental. Fort Stewart curfew rules apply. "International Chicken Wing Day"
Stewart Lanes Bowling Center, building 450, will celebrate "International Chicken Wing Day" on July 1 with a special price of 50 cents per wing. It's our way of introducing you to our fabulous wings. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. For more information, call 912-767-4273.

Back to School Fair at Club Stewart
Students in grades 1-12 are invited to model school uniforms and youth fashions from the AAFES PX in a Back to School Fashion Show on July 27. The fashion show will begin at 11:30 a.m. and is part of a "Back to School Fair," featuring information, fashion and prizes, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Club Stewart.
Youths participating in the fashion show will receive discounts from the PX on clothing items. Spaces are limited and the last day to sign up is July 9. To sign up, contact the CYSS EDGE Director Darnell Braggs at 912-767-1341.
Parents will be able to talk with local school representatives and learn more about Family and youth- related services on Fort Stewart at the "Back to School Fair." Agencies who want to be a part of the fair are asked to contact the School Liaison Office at 912-767-6533 no later than July 1.
The free Child, Youth and School Services' event also will include a number of prizes and giveaways, as well as children's activities.

Hunter GC Golf Scramble
The Hunter Garrison Commander's 4-person Golf Scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. July 15 at Hunter Golf Club. The event will accept the first 25 four-person teams. Register your team by July 13.
The cost is $35 for Taylors Creek and Hunter Golf Club Members, Active Duty, Retirees, and Army Civilians, $45 for civilian guests.

Missoula Children's Theater Auditions at Stewart
Auditions for the Missoula Children's Theatre production of "The Little Mermaid" musical will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18 at School Age Services, building 7338.
About 75 youth between the ages of 7 and 18 years old will have an opportunity to learn about and experience drama, public speaking and acting through the Missoula production.
Rehearsals will continue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 19-22 at SAS.
"The Little Mermaid" performance, free and open to the public, will be at 3 p.m. July 23 at Woodruff Theater.

CYSS Youth Sports Registration
Registration for tackle football/cheerleading and fall soccer will begin July 1 and end Aug 15, 2011 or when all slots are filled.
Registration is open to CYSS members living on or off-post. Football is open to ages 7-12 (age as of Aug. 1, 2011), cheerleading is open to ages 6-13 (age as of Dec 31, 2011) and soccer is open to ages 4-13 (age as of Aug 1, 2011).

Liberty County Schools Military Registration Day
Liberty County Schools will have a Military Registration Day from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1-3 p.m. July 26 at their specific school for Families needing to register students for the 2011-2012 School Year.
To help ease the Military Families' transition into the system, all Liberty County Schools will register students, give school and district information, give class assignments and create schedules, as well as answer academic and school-related questions for enrolling students.
For registration, Families will need to bring the following: Social Security card; birth certificate; Georgia Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231) Georgia Certificate of Ear, Eye, and Dental Screening (Form 3300); two proofs of residence; proof of enrollment and attendance (report card/school transcript) in an accredited school; and departing school address.
