Play begins Monday at Club Stewart in a Texas Hold'em Tournament that will see a local winner emerge from finals in June. A player meeting on Friday will go over rules and to provide other information.
Games will be played in the Warriors Lounge starting at 7 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until May 20. Play will continue at 7 p.m. May 25, June 1 and June 3.
On June 6 at Thunder Run, the top 10 players will compete in finals at 7 p.m.
Food and drinks will be available for sale during the event, and spectators are welcome.
The winner here level will take home up to $500 cash and advance to the Army-wide online finals in July.
Top prize in the online finals will be a home theater system (with Blu-Ray and BOSE Surround Sound) and a title bracelet.

Offshore fishing for soldiers
Registration begins Monday and continues through May 25 for the Offshore Outlaw Fishing Club's June fishing tournament.
It's free for soldiers, who must register at the Fort Stewart or Hunter Leisure Travel Office. The number of spaces available is limited.
The club, as it did in 2009, has extended an invitation to active duty, National Guard and Army Reserve soldiers to fish.
A mandatory captains' meeting and Lowcountry boil will be held June 3 to finalize details. Club captains will take soldiers out June 4 and provide all fishing equipment/tackle and bait needed.
The club is based out of the Fort McAllister Marina in Richmond Hill.

Mother's Day brunch at Club Stewart
Mother's Day brunch will be served on May 8 at Club Stewart from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Carnations will be given to moms.
The menu includes breakfast items, as well as salad station, carving station with roast top round, chicken piccatta, pork loin with peach glazed, garden vegetable rice, candied carrots, broccoli Provencale, loaded mashed potatoes, spring rice blend, dessert stations, chocolate fountain and mimosas.

Hit to be Fit Softball Tourney at Stewart
The Sports Office at Fort Stewart will host a double-elimination softball tournament, open to company-level teams, at the Bennett Sports Complex May 13-14. The tourney is in celebration of Fitness Month.
Registration will be accepted until May 10. Teams can sign up at the Complex, building 471. The cost is $150 per team. Play will begin at 7 p.m. on May 13.
A team trophy and individual trophies will be presented to members of the first-place team. Team trophies will be awarded to the second and third-place teams. Competition will be limited to 16 teams.

Hunter GC Golf Scramble

Hunter Practice Ten Miler
A practice run will be at 6 a.m. May 14 at Tominac Fitness Center for the All-Army 10 Miler Qualifier Race scheduled next month at Fort Stewart.
There's no charge for the practice or qualifying Race, which will be run at the Donovan track in the Georgia National Guard Training Area on June 4.
Family Members are not eligible to become a member of the Stewart/Hunter Ten-Miler team, but are welcome to run with their soldiers in the practice run and qualifier.

Body Building and Ms. Figure Contest at Stewart
A Body Building and Ms. Figure Contest will be held at Woodruff Theatre on May 14 to reward and recognize the hard work and rigorous training that Stewart/Hunter Soldiers, Families, and Civilians have invested in the sport and art form of body building.
Each contestant will be judged on muscularity, symmetry, free posing without music, and free posing with music. First- to third-place awards/trophies will be offered for each category.
Free T-shirts will be given to all participants.
The event is open to Military ID card holders ages 17 and older, and non-military civilians. The cost to enter will be $25 through April 29. Late registration, from April 30 until the day of the event, will be $35.
Weigh-in will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the theater, building 410. Pre-judging will take place at 11 a.m. The competition will begin at 7 p.m.
The cost to spectators will be $3 during pre-judging and $5 for the competition.

Armed Forces Day Car Show at Stewart
Soldiers and their families will have a chance to "show pride for their ride" and maybe win a prize during the BOSS Armed Forces Day Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 21 at the parking lot on-post (off East Bultman Avenue) adjacent to the Fort Stewart Education Center
Judging will be in the categories of best (car/bike) in show; best import; best SUV/truck; best classic; biggest rim; most chrome and best sound. Admission to watch the show is $2 per person. There is no charge for children ages 10 and younger.
Entry fees are $25 per car show entry; $10 per car for clubs entering five cars or more; $10 for the sound competition and $30 for the show and sound combination competition.
Concessions and vendors will be available.

Armed Forces Kid's Day Runs
Children, ages 5-13, from Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will join military-connected children around the world in America's Armed Forces Kids Day Runs on May 21.
At Stewart, the event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Jordan Youth Gym. At Hunter, the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Steven Douglas and North Perimeter Road.
The events provide an opportunity for youth to participate in America's Kids Run in conjunction with Armed Forces Day and as part of the We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children's Activity and Nutrition) program to combat childhood obesity.
Each child will receive a T-shirt upon completion of his/her run. The younger kids will run half a mile, the 7- and 8-year-olds 1 mile, and the older kids 2 miles.
Activities and games will begin when the runs are completed.
As part of Armed Forces Day activities in May each year, military dependants in the United States, in Bahrain, Greece, Puerto Rico, Germany, Japan, Iceland, England, and Italy participate in America's Kids Run.

Teen High Adventure Camp Sign-up
Registration will close June 2 for the action-filled Teen High Adventure Camp, scheduled June 12-17 in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina.
The trip is sponsored by the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Child, Youth and School Services and is open to CYSS-registered youth 12 -18 years of age.
Youth can learn lifetime outdoor adventure skills through activities such as hiking on the Appalachian Trail, climbing what is described as one of the best ropes challenge courses in the Southeast, tubing in the Smoky Mountains and white water rafting down the Nantahala River. Meals, transportation and cabin accommodations are included.

Youth Sponsorship Gator Galore & Asian Festival Sign-up Deadline
Register by June 2 for the Youth Sponsorship Gator Galore & Asian Festival trip to the Savannah Wildlife Refuge and the Savannah Civic Center on June 4. There is no charge for the trip.
The trip is open to CYSS-registered youth in grades 4-12. Although the trip is free, there is a $5 fee for any cancellations after June 2 or no-shows.
During the 4 mile loop through the wildlife refuge, participants will likely see gators and other wildlife indigenous to the Southeast coastal region. From the wildlife refuge, the group will go to the Savannah Civic Center for the Savannah Asian Festival.
The Asian festival will feature live stage performances, martial arts demonstrations, authentic cuisine, cultural displays, arts and crafts and more. At the festival, youth will have the opportunity to buy lunch and/or bring a lunch to eat.
