The Midway Museum will host a fall tour Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Historic Midway Cemetery.

Costumed actors and actresses will interpret the history of Liberty County and the Midway Church during the tour of the historic cemetery. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds benefit the museum. Tours begin at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 912-884-5837.

The Midway Cemetery, which is part of the Midway Historic District, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and is the burial place of Revolutionary War Generals James Screven and Daniel Stewart. In the center of the cemetery is a monument, which was dedicated to them in 1915.

"Our friends and volunteers will dress in historical costumes and delight you with history told in an entertaining way," museum Executive Director Diane Kroell said. "If you like cemeteries in the dark, stories of mystery and people re-enacting events, come on our tour. It may be spooky, but not scary. Join us, you’ll love the tour!"

The cemetery is across Highway 17 from the Midway Congregational Church, which was originally built in 1792 and the Midway Museum, which is a replica of a colonial style cottage. The Museum houses heirloom furnishings, documents, and artifacts significant to Liberty County’s Colonial era and involvement in the Revolutionary and Civil wars.

The museum is open for tours Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Visit it online at www.themidwaymuseum.org or find it on Facebook as Midway Museum.
