Here are five movies from various platforms families may want to consider as recommended by Because not all are appropriate for younger children, age recommendations are included.

The Disney resorts feature many rides and attractions. From bears and robots to pirates and ghosts, several movies have been based on those themes. Here are five movies based on Disney theme-park attractions for families to consider.

Redbox: 'Tomorrowland'

A gifted teen girl is transported to a city of robots and then recruits the help of a previous visitor to Tomorrowland to uncover the citys secrets. Common Sense Media refers to Tomorrowland as being tween-friendly, highlighting the films clearly positive messages about using innovation, invention and engineering to make the future a brighter, better place. The website notes, however, that the film depicts its main characters in near-constant peril and contains some startlingly violent action sequences, including robots that shoot and kill people in several scenes, instantly disintegrating them, and some cut-off profanity. recommends the film for viewers ages 11 and older.

Netflix: 'Pirates of the Caribbean'

The first film in the franchise, The Curse of the Black Pearl, introduces the eccentric pirate Capt. Jack Sparrow, who is hired by a blacksmith to find the governors daughter. The Dove Foundation states that the film is a captivating pirate story but it is certainly too intense for younger children." The website also notes fantasy violence and language. Amazon Instant: 'Country Bears'

Based on the Walt Disney World Country Bear Jamboree, a young bear raised by humans searches for his bear family and meets the broken-up band who reunite for a final concert. The Dove Foundation awarded the film its Dove Family-Approved seal for all ages, noting that amid the music and slapstick mayhem are strong messages of family love, acceptance and forgiveness. recommends the film for viewers ages 5 and older.

iTunes: 'The Haunted Mansion'

A workaholic real estate agent takes his family on a vacation. Along the way, the family stops at a mansion the father has been asked to sell, only to discover it is haunted. Common Sense Media notes ghosts, demons and zombies that might scare younger viewers, along with crypt scenes and an image of a woman hanging dead from a noose, and profanity. The film is rated PG. recommends the film for viewers ages 8 and older.

Amazon Instant: 'Mission to Mars'

In 2020, the team of the first manned spaceship to Mars encounters a mysterious storm. A rescue attempt is made, followed by an investigation. The Dove Foundation calls the film a well-written, well-acted sci/fi action movie that promotes a theory that life on earth was born of Martians seeding our planet.' The movie is rated PG for sci-fi violence and mild language. recommends the film for viewers ages 10 and older.
