The Parents Television Council isnt excited about Justin Timberlakes upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance.

The PTC sent an open letter to Timberlake, who will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday. The PTC said it hopes Timberlake wont repeat events that occurred in 2004 when Timberlake contributed to Janet Jackson's infamous wardrobe malfunction.

The group asked Timberlake to keep the halftime show friendly and safe for the children watching, and who may be hoping to emulate you one day, according to the letter.

Our children are confronted with enough harmful and explicit content in todays entertainment media content that sexualizes our daughters; graphic violence that connotes acceptance as an answer to lifes conflicts; glamorization of underage drinking and drug use; normalization of children using harsh profanity; and a litany of other messaging that runs counter to the values most parents work to instill in their kids, the letter reads. The Super Bowl, and particularly its halftime show, should be the hallmark of entertainment thats both appealing and a safe place for the entire family.

Back in 2004, Timberlake and Jackson performed at the halftime show. Timberlake ripped off part of Jacksons outfit, exposing one of her breasts on national television. Timberlake later apologized to the media.

"I know it's been a rough week on everybody," Timberlake said in his apology. "What occurred was unintentional, completely regrettable, and I apologize if you guys were offended."

Timberlake will return to the Super Bowl stage just two days after he releases his new album, Man of the Woods.
