UnityFest, a community praise celebration that will run from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday at Bryant Commons, will feature gospel and national recording artist Alvin Slaughter. The UnityFest Super Choir and several local Christian artists also will perform. The event is open to the public.
Slaughter, who has won multiple Grammy awards, formerly sang with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. He currently records for Integrity Music, and his albums are distributed in more than 100 nations around the world.
“UnityFest will bring congregations, families and individual of all beliefs and backgrounds to share expressions of love and faith,” said Vicki Davis, committee organizer and executive director of the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority.  “With Liberty County being located in the heart of the Bible belt, it is surprising that we don’t already have a public praise festival in our community as well as our surrounding communities.”
The UnityFest Super Choir is directed by recording artist Terry Newsome and is comprised of choir members and soloists from throughout the community. Those interested in joining the choir should call the HDDA at 877-4332 for rehearsal information.
In lieu of gate admission, donations will be accepted to benefit the Liberty County Homeless Coalition. Donations of canned goods also will be collected.
