Sarah Victoria Scott Nephew celebrated her 104th birthday Thursday.

The Long County native was born in 1913 and has lived here most of her life except for several years she lived in Savannah and on Ossabaw Island. She lives in the Macedonia area on Broad Level in Long County with her daughters.

Last year during an interview, she gave this advice for living, “Live the best you can. Life has so many surprises for us. Ask the Lord to hold your hand and lead you until you reach the Promised Land!”

Nephew is probably the oldest living person in Long County.

One of her daughters said Tuesday that she heard her mother singing very early that morning.

Saturday, her family will gather and have a birthday party with lots of food outside of her home. Last year, more than 100 attended. Nephew has three children, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
