The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s rural development review team visited Walthourville’s city office Aug. 2. The team conducted assessments, toured the building at 222 Busbee St. and met with city officials. The department attempts to increase rural residents’ economic opportunities and improve quality of life. The team gave high accolades to the city. 

Meanwhile, the Walthourville Senior Citizens traveled to Savannah on July 31 to secure funding for their senior program. Trip attendees were Walthourville Mayor Daisy S. Pray; Mayor Pro Tem Patricia Green; city employee Crystal Tilley; Walthourville Police Chief Tracy McFadden; senior group President Frank Carter; and senior group members Charity Bernard, Linda Cooper, Barbara Jackson, Marshall Utley and Lana Walthour.
