An extreme heat warning is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight and will be in effect from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday. Dangerously hot conditions are expected with heat index values up to 112. Heat index values could reach 113 Saturday.

Wildlife Festival pageant winners crowned

Long County High School in Ludowici recently hosted the 2010 Miss Long County Wildlife Pageant.

Pageant winners are:
• Baby miss division: Chole Terrell
• Toddler miss division: Trinity Boutwell
• Tiny miss division: Raven Fernandez
• Petite miss division: Jailyn Holland
• Pre-teen division: Alexis Durrence
• People’s choice award: Karena Espey
• Overall crown winner: Karena Espey
The next pageant scheduled is the 2010 Miss Hallows Eve Beauty Pageant at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in the LCHS cafeteria. According to coordinator Kelli Mock, KIDZ-ETC. is sponsoring the event for the first time this year and they are hoping for a good turnout.
Kylie Gaitten will direct the pageant. Age divisions will run from birth-99 years.
