The 3rd Infantry Division announces the 2023 class of nine inductees into the Marne Hall of Fame.
The MHOF honors Dogface soldiers who served in the division and had a lasting impact on the 3rd ID, the Army and nation. The MHOF program preserves the division’s legacy by paying respect to past heroes and promoting the unit’s remarkable history. Its goal is to connect current soldiers with past Dogface soldiers who have exemplified courage, selfless service, grit, and resilience in the face of adversity. By embracing the past achievements of Dogface soldiers, the MHOF amplifies historical and special events that are integral to the historic division.
Nominees are U.S. military members (officers, warrant officers, noncommissioned officers and soldiers) of 3rd ID who have brought great honor to the division through deed, sacrifice, or achievement.
2023 inductees to the Marne Hall of Fame are:

• Cpl. John Essebagger Jr.
• Cpl. Charles Gilliland
• Cpl. Clair Goodblood
• Lt. Gen. George Hays
• Lt. Gen. John Heintges • Maj. Philip Larimore
• Lt. Gen. Lionel Mc-Garr
• Lt. Gen. John O’Daniel Additionally, 3rd ID announces the 2023 class of six inductees of the Distinguished Members of the Division. These recipients are U.S. or foreign military members and civilians who served at least one year in the division and achieved great success in their careers.
The 2023 inductees to the Distinguished Members of the Division are:
• President Dwight D. Eisenhower
• General of the Army, George C. Marshall
• Gen. Edward Meyer
• Gen. Matthew Ridgway
• Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) Patrick Ryan
• Gen. Frederick Weyand In November 2021, 3rd ID officials unveiled the inaugural class of honored recipients for both programs. Currently, there are a total of 30 MHOF inductees and 17 Distinguished Members of the Division.
