A minor accident involving an ambulance in Hinesville slowed up the transport of a patient to a Savannah hospital Wednesday.

According to Hinesville Police Traffic Accident Investigator Aaron Brandt, a Wayne County ambulance was traveling Eastbound on West Oglethorpe Highway transporting an injured patient to a Savannah hospital when it rear ended a vehicle in the vicinity of the IHOP restaurant shortly before 1 p.m. The vehicle the ambulance struck in turn rear ended a vehicle in front of it, causing minor damage to the bumper. The vehicle struck by the ambulance sustained damage to the rear and had to be towed. The ambulance with the patient was eventually able to continue transporting the patient.
