Arbor Day grows on the county
arbor day proclamation

Karen Bell shows off the proclamation signed by Liberty County Commission Chairman Donald Lovette declaring February 16 as Arbor Day.

Arbor Day, Dr. Bell said, is a celebration of tree planters, and the third Friday in February is designated as the best day to plant certain trees.

Alongside are Commissioners Connie Thrift, Marion Stevens Sr., Maxie Jones and Justin Frasier.

Bell also told commissioners that 401 trees were chipped or put into the fish pond as part of the Bring One for the Chipper and they also handed out 500 trees. KLB will have events on Arbor Day at Farmer’s Natural Foods from 9 a.m.-12 noon and at Melon Bluff Nature Center from 1-3 p.m.
