Armed robbery suspect not on the loose for long
Amos

A robbery suspect was brought into custody not long after allegedly stealing a tactical vest.

According to a Hinesville Police Department release, Jaleighia Amos stole the vest at the U.S. Patriot store on Gen. Screven Way after displaying a weapon he had tucked into his waistband to the clerk as he exited the building.

A detective who was across the street noticed Amos departing the area, based on the description the store clerk provided to 911. The detective called for backup, and as officers responded they saw Amos on Frasier Circle.

Amos was arrested, moments after the incident took place.

Officers recovered the firearm, ammunition, and the stolen property.

Amos is being charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and criminal attempt to possess marijuana. He is in the Liberty County Jail, awaiting his first appearance hearing.
