Arts Council invites community to ‘Paint Liberty Blue’ for autism awareness

The Hinesville Area Arts Council and community partners invite Liberty County residents to participate in Paint Liberty Blue, a community-wide show of support for Autism Awareness Month, on Thursday, April 2.

Individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to wear blue throughout the day to raise awareness of autism and show support for local families and individuals in the autism community. That evening, the celebration continues with the opening of “The Art of Autism,” a special student art exhibit highlighting the creativity and talent of young artists on the autism spectrum.

The exhibit will open with a free public reception on Thursday, April 2 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Hinesville Area Arts Council, 102 Commerce Street in downtown Hinesville. The exhibit will remain on display through April 30.

“The Art of Autism” showcases artwork created by local students and aims to celebrate creativity while also increasing understanding about autism. The exhibit highlights the importance of inclusion and recognizes the unique perspectives and talents of autistic artists.

The event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, whose support helps make this community celebration possible. Community members are encouraged to attend the opening reception, meet the artists and their families, and celebrate the role art plays in self-expression and connection.
