In front of a large group of supporters, Bob Pirkle announced his campaign to become the next mayor of Hinesville.
With his family at his side and the support of the citizens of Hinesville, Pirkle made his official announcement Aug. 3.
“After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to seek the office of mayor. For years, I have worked with you to make this community a better place to live and raise a family. I believe the next step to make a difference is by serving as your mayor,” Pirkle said.
An attorney with degrees from the University of Georgia, Georgia Southern University, and Samford University, Pirkle has been the president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the YMCA, president of Jaycees, the president of Athletic Boosters Club, and district chairman of the Boy Scouts. He and his family are members of the First United Methodist Church where he is a past committee chairman.
“We need to work together with a common vision for our community,” Pirkle said. “Our government needs to be more user-friendly and accountable to the citizens. With positive and unifying leadership, that will happen.”
Pirkle has served as the Long County solicitor for 12 years, and the chief judge of the municipal court of Richmond Hill for seven years.
He and his wife, Laura, have three children: Robert, Elizabeth and Hamilton.
