Aydra Hart of Midway will join middle school students from across the nation to take part in a unique veterinary career-oriented development experience in Washington, D.C., this summer. Attendees will study at American University and the Smithsonian Zoo to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.

Veterinary Medicine Middle School is one of the WorldStrides family of programs (vetmed.worldstrides.com) that enable students to learn from teaching veterinarians and seasoned animal care and conservation professionals. Students witness firsthand the behind-the scenes moments in a working veterinarian’s life and experience time with a variety of animals, practicing clinical skills, field classes, laboratory workshops and shadowing animal care experts.

Hart is a rising eighth grader at Midway Middle School (MMS) who was nominated for the program and selected to attend because of her academic achievement and interest in the field of veterinary medicine. In addition to her academics, she is a cheerleader for the MMS football and basketball programs. Hart is also a member of the Culture Club, Girls Excelling in Mathematics & Science, News Club, Track & Field Team, and Liberty County 4H Junior/Senior at Midway Middle School.

To raise funds for program travel, Hart will host a “Let’s Pawty!” fundraising event on Sunday, June 8 from 2-6 p.m. Pet owners and animal lovers can enjoy a day of food, fun, and activities with pets for $5 per person and $5 per pet. The event will be at the Celebration Castle, 217 Lee Place Road, Ludowici.
