A big night for Boys and Girls Club

State Rep. Al Williams (D-Midway) was honored as the Boys and Girls Club Liberty County Unit’s Humanitarian of the Year.

The Liberty County Boys and Girls Club’s annual Humanitarian of the Year gala was another overwhelming success, generating more than $40,000 in support for the organization.

“The Liberty County Advisory Committee, the Next Level Foundation and Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club are all humble and grateful for the support they received in their efforts to assure great futures for our children,” said Edna Walthour.

Special guests included: state Rep. Karlton Howard of Augusta, NAACP Chairman Evelyn Tyson Fox of Gainesville, Fla., Liberty County NAACP Branch President Lisa Thomas, David Loo of New York, New York, of the Hudson Group and Boys and Girls Club partner, Mary Ann Rossignol of the Hudson Group, former Riceboro mayor Bill Austin, Cornell Harvey, first Black mayor of Brunswick, Liberty County Sheriff Will Bowman, Dr. Vivian Shipman, proxy for her father, former Midway mayor and Liberty County NAACP president Rev. J.C. Shipman, Lt. Col. Dan Urquhart, Fort Stewart garrison chaplain, state Rep. Ron Stephens, Flemington Mayor Paul Hawkins, James Green of the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club, WorkSource Georgia coastal region director Sheron Morgan, Midway Mayor Leverne Clancy Jr., Judge Linnie Darden, JoAnn Anderson, chairman of the Tattnall County NAACP, Annette Howell, cousin of the honoree, and Maurice Williams of Raleigh, N.C., brother of the honoree.
