Bob Dodd is running for Post 4 on Walthourville City Council
candidate dodd
Bob Dodd

What issues are most important to you and why?

I feel the state of the city - state of living (welfare) of the citizens, overall economic wellness and morale should be the priorities.  They go hand-in-hand.  If the state of the city is a positive one, citizens benefit from a healthy environment.  I feel I can contribute to what has already been started by innovative ideas to enhance safe community living.  Transition is always a challenge but I am up to the challenge.  I feel the correct collaboration of Council elected will be the key to that overall wellness and success of the city continuing to “move forward.”

What makes you the best candidate to serve city council?

I feel I am the best candidate to serve as council simply because I have the drive, discipline and stern mindset to lead.  Leaders listen to the citizens, consider the input and make changes that are beneficial.  I understand the importance of setting aside any personal reservations in order to serve the citizens and adhere to their needs and concerns.  Working together is the ultimate goal.  You can’t be successful without teamwork.  I believe together we can create the difference and put it into action.

Why run for office now? What needs to be accomplished by city officials that are not being done?

I have resided in Walthourville for 4 and a half years.  I have been an active attendee to the council meetings and Neighborhood Watch meetings.  I have seen and heard first-hand the immediate concerns as well as dislikes of the citizens.  I’m sure there are many more who need to voice their concerns and I welcome all of them.  I encourage it.  I will assist and not hinder the progress to keep the city in good standing and moving forward in a positive direction.  I have witnessed a lot of uncertainty, far as progress, disorientation of sound decisions and unsupportive communication by city officials.  I didn’t see any teamwork, a lot of opposition.  Those actions cause confusion and no productivity.  It hurts the citizens by not being on the same page and their needs are not put to forefront.  I feel together is always better.

How long have you been a resident of the city?

I have resided in Walthourville for 4 and a half years.  I am a native of West Virginia but my wife is a native of Walthourville.
